One-Dollar Book Sale is back at IU Northwest the week of March 23!

Popular event offers more than 5,000 books of all varieties and genres

The One-Dollar Book Sale at Indiana University Northwest will return the week of March 23. The popular sale will take place in the Moraine Student Center, which is next door to the Savannah Center at the southeast corner of the main campus parking lot at 33rd Avenue and Broadway in Gary.

There will be more than 5,000 books on hand, including popular fiction, literature, non-fiction, specialty titles, and many used textbooks. All books will be one dollar Monday through Thursday, with discounts for quantity purchases.

On Friday, all remaining books will be 50 cents. But the best books go fast, so avid readers are advised to plan for repeat visits in order to find the titles they want. New titles will be added throughout the week, and the IU Northwest Anthropology Club, which hosts the semi-annual event, will accept book donations during the sale.

The sale’s hours will be: 9 a.m. sharp until 7:30 p.m. on Monday; 9:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday through Thursday; and 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday.

The One-Dollar Book Sale has grown from a modest fundraiser into a major event at IU Northwest, with hundreds of students, faculty and community members turning out to take advantage of great deals on terrific books.

Funds raised through the book sale are used to support Anthropology Club scholarships, academic achievement awards and club-sponsored special events. The club has been able to donate thousands of dollars each year for student field-research stipends and other academic undertakings thanks to the community’s generous support of this event. The sale typically takes place each autumn and spring.

Anyone wishing to donate books to the One-Dollar Book Sale at IU Northwest may bring them to the event. Those who wish to donate large quantities of books may contact Associate Professor of Anthropology Robert Mucci at (219) 980-6607, or they may notify someone at the sale itself so that arrangements can be made to pick up the donated books.
