Campus to hold pep rally at 11:30 a.m. Monday for USCAA-bound basketball teams

Games to be broadcast over Web-streaming radio

The Indiana University Northwest RedHawk basketball teams will depart campus at noon on Monday, March 2, for Uniontown, Penn., which serves as home base for this year’s United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Tournament. Both the men's and women's teams will be playing for USCAA national championships.

At 11:30 a.m., the university will hold a brief pep rally in the Savannah Gymnasium. All members of the campus community are encouraged to attend and celebrate the players’ success by giving them a rousing sendoff. There will be free popcorn, courtesy of the Office of Student Life and Athletics.

Fans of IU Northwest basketball will have the opportunity to listen to the men’s and women’s RedHawk teams compete in the USCAA tournament, dubbed “Thunder on the Three Rivers,” when they take the floor March 4 in their first-round match-ups. The only catch, for those who want to listen to both games, is that the teams are scheduled to play at different sites at the same time.

The sixth-seeded IU Northwest men’s team will take the floor on Wednesday, March 4, against third-seeded Rochester College, out of Michigan, at host university Penn State — Fayette, starting at 12 p.m. Chicago time (1 p.m. Pittsburgh time). The men are competing in the USCAA Men’s Division I tournament.

The 10th-seeded women’s team will take the floor at the same time against seventh-seeded Briarcliffe College, out of New York, at the Penn State — Greater Allegheny campus. Schedules for subsequent games will depend on the outcome of each contest.
