Sharon Houston again named USCAA Player of the Week

Indiana University Northwest forward Sharon Houston has earned National Player of the Week honors for the week of Dec. 15 by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, the organization announced this week. It is the second time this season that she has earned USCAA honors.

Houston, the 6-foot, 3-inch freshman from Merrillville High School, scored 28 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and notched five blocks in a tough 81-78 loss to Purdue Calumet on Dec. 17. She knocked down 24 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and added eight blocks in another close contest on Dec. 20, in which the Lady RedHawks (7-8) lost at home to Marian College 61-57.

Houston was also named the USCAA’s Player of the Week in November. Earlier this month, she was also named Female Athlete of the Week for the NAIA’s Association of Independent Institutions for the week ending Dec. 8.

Houston and the Lady RedHawks next play at home on Saturday, Jan. 3 at 2 p.m. versus Indiana Tech.
