‘Under Indiana Skies’ exhibit returns to Indiana University Northwest this month

Pulaski County artists featured in third annual exhibit highlighting Northwest Indiana talent

On Saturday, July 26, Indiana University Northwest will host an opening reception for the third annual “Under Indiana Skies” exhibit, which features work from outstanding artists in Northwest Indiana. This year, the exhibit will highlight distinctive watercolor paintings from Pulaski County artist Lee Heinsen-Ligocki. Her husband, sculptor and craftsman Gordon Ligocki, will also have a few select pieces on display.

This latest “Under Indiana Skies” exhibit officially opens to the public on July 21 and runs through Aug. 11. The opening reception with the artists will be held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on July 26 in the Savannah Gallery for Contemporary Art, located in the Savannah Center at the southeast corner of the main campus parking lot at 33rd Avenue and Broadway in Gary, Ind. Regular gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Weekend viewings are available by appointment.

“Under Indiana Skies: Pulaski County” is the third installment of this annual showcase of regional artists, which was established in 2006 as a way to promote collaboration between IU Northwest and the surrounding communities that comprise Northwest Indiana. The university is pleased to present this distinguished exhibit from Pulaski County artists Lee Heinsen-Ligocki and Gordon Ligocki.
