On Thursday, July 10, Indiana University Northwest Chancellor Bruce Bergland will meet with IU and IU Northwest alumni, St. Mary Medical Center employees and area citizens during an alumni luncheon at the hospitalís Hobart campus, located at the junction of Ind. 51 and 61st Avenue. All IU Northwest graduates, students, parents, and anyone else who is interested in the university are invited to attend this open and informal event, which will run from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the hospital auditorium.
IU Northwest is proud to serve the educational needs of students and communities across Northwest Indiana, and the Chancellorís St. Mary luncheon is part of the universityís ongoing effort to reach out to its diverse constituencies. Chancellor Bergland looks forward to discussing IU Northwestís present successes, ongoing initiatives and future ambitions with the universityís many area alumni and other supporters. †
As a leader in health education in Northwest Indiana, IU Northwest takes great pride in the many qualified healthcare professionals who graduate from IUís Gary, Ind. campus each year. This region has a continuing need for qualified nurses, medical technicians and other health professionals, and IU Northwest is committed to supplying area healthcare providers with caring, compassionate and highly educated employees.
St. Mary Medical Center, which is part of the Community Healthcare System, currently employs a number of IU Northwest graduates in a variety of fields, and hundreds more past and current students work at other healthcare facilities throughout Northwest Indiana. As the only institution of higher learning in the region with a College of Health and Human Services, IU Northwest is pleased to invite IU alumni and members of the medical community to meet with Chancellor Bergland and learn more about what the university is doing to address the educational needs of the healthcare community and all of Northwest Indiana. ††
Although it begins at 11 a.m., the IU Northwest luncheon is an open event. People are encouraged to drop by as their schedules allow for a great lunch and a chat with Chancellor Bergland. The Chancellor is very interested in hearing ideas from IU Northwest constituents about how they believe the university can continue serving their educational needs and the needs of the areaís healthcare community. †
