Indiana University Northwest will confer 892 degrees to Northwest Indiana students at its 41st
Commencement on Thursday, May 10. The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. at the Gary Genesis Center, located at Broadway and 5th Avenue in Gary.
Family members, friends and supporters are encouraged to attend this important event in honor of the students who have worked so hard to achieve this noteworthy milestone in their lives. The IU Northwest Commencement is open to the public and tickets are not required. Free parking will be available and marked with signage in various locations around the Genesis Center. The Gary Police Department will also be on hand to assist with traffic control.
Indiana University President Adam W. Herbert will join IU Northwest Chancellor Bruce Bergland in awarding degrees to this year’s graduates. This will be Herbert’s final commencement appearance at IU Northwest; he is stepping down from the presidency June 30.
Graduates are asked to arrive at the Genesis Center no later than 4:30 p.m. The ceremony will begin promptly at 6 p.m.
IU Northwest is one of eight campuses of Indiana University. This year, IU will confer a total of 17,687 degrees to its students across the university system.
