The Indiana University Northwest Anthropology Club will host its semi-annual Big One-Dollar Book Sale from Monday, April 2 through Friday, April 6 at the Moraine Student Center, located next to the IU Northwest Savannah Center on the Gary campus at 3400 Broadway in Gary, Ind. The sale will run from 9:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. every day but Friday, when it will run until 1 p.m.
The Big One-Dollar Book Sale has grown from a modest fundraiser into a major event at IU Northwest, with hundreds of students, faculty and community members turning out to take advantage of great deals on books of all varieties. Approximately 10,000 titles will be available, from popular fiction and literature to non-fiction and many used textbooks, all for $1 each. Books will be added as the week continues, so book lovers should plan for repeat visits.
Visitors to the Big One-Dollar Book Sale can also take advantage of a special discount offer: Buy five books for $1 each and receive a sixth book free. Plus, on Friday, all remaining books will sell for only 50 cents each!
Funds raised through the book sale will be used to support Anthropology Club scholarships, academic-achievement awards and club-sponsored special events. The club plans to award more than $4,000 in scholarships, awards and student stipends this spring.
Anyone wishing to donate books to the Anthropology Club book sale may bring them to the event. Those who wish to donate large quantities of books may contact Associate Prof. Robert Mucci at (219) 980-6607, or they may notify someone at the sale itself, and arrangements can be made to pick up the donation. Also, there are drop boxes located in Moraine and in the Savannah Center in which students, faculty and staff, and the public can place donated books any time throughout the year.
