Fans of actor-singer John Schneider, or anyone who likes exciting car-chase cinema, will want to check out Schneider’s latest feature film, “Collier & Co. Hot Pursuit,” which will make its Midwestern debut at 8 p.m. on Feb. 13 at the Indiana University Northwest Savannah Center.
Admission is free, although patrons are asked to contribute small donations at the door to support either the IU Northwest Library Fund or the Merrillville Fire Department — Fire 1. Additional screenings are scheduled for 8 p.m. on Feb. 14 and 15, also at Savannah.
“Collier & Co. Hot Pursuit,” which has played to enthusiastic audiences throughout the southern United States, stars Schneider as a race-car driver who retires to run his own used-car dealership, only to cross paths with the requisite villains when he inadvertently takes possession of a vehicle that contains some property that belongs to them. Chase scenes and car stunts abound as Schneider races around in a stunt-jumping 1969 Dodge Charger to save his family from the bad guys’ clutches.
Schneider directed “Collier & Co. Hot Pursuit,” for which he wrote the screenplay back in 1982. At that time, Schneider was starring as Bo Duke in the popular television series “The Dukes of Hazzard.” He later appeared in 100 episodes of “Smallville” as Jonathan Kent, adoptive father to Clark Kent/Superman. Schneider has also appeared on “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” and a variety of other TV shows, mini-series and feature films. He has also enjoyed a successful career as a country singer.
“Collier & Co. Hot Pursuit” is not listed as having been rated by the Motion Picture Association of America, but it has been billed as a family action-comedy. IU Northwest invites the Northwest Indiana community to be among the first in Indiana to see the latest project from TV favorite John Schneider.
