While the Indiana University Northwest campus is closed for the Thanksgiving holiday, work crews will take advantage of the break and replace a fire hydrant on the campus Nov. 24.
This emergency replacement of the hydrant will require that the campus water mains be closed and the pipes drained. Because this interruption in water service will put restroom facilities, fire sprinklers and other essential services out of order for the day, campus buildings will be closed on Nov. 24 until water is restored to the campus. This work is expected to be completed at approximately 4 p.m. that day.
Because of the holiday break, work on the fire hydrant will not disrupt classes or other campus business. However, it is not uncommon for campus employees to visit their offices during off days. All IU Northwest faculty and staff have been notified that the IU Northwest Police Department will not admit anyone to any building on campus Nov. 24 until water service has been restored.
Replacement of the fire hydrant is expected to be completed Nov. 24. All classes will resume as scheduled on Monday, Nov. 27 following the holiday weekend.
