Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. A brief program with a special Indiana University Alumni presentation and the presentation of awards will occur at 8:15 p.m., followed by a dance, free to any IU Northwest student, starting at 9:30 p.m. and running until midnight. ALMA stands for Alianza Latina del Medio-oeste de America de Indiana Universidad Norte-oeste. This IU Northwest Latino student organization is comprised of students, faculty, and staff from various backgrounds who have united to enhance and improve the opportunities available for current and future Latino students attending IU Northwest. The group seeks to accomplish this goal by inviting students and the community to participate in activities that enhance the cultural, social and academic needs of students and that foster a connection with the community.
In 2003, ALMA members began a campaign to establish IU Northwest’s first student-organized endowment scholarship fund. That effort succeeded, thanks to the hard work of ALMA members and fellow students and with support from the University, local businesses and members of the community. The ALMA Endowment Scholarship Fund has been established with more than $18,000 that was raised through these efforts. ALMA is the first IU Northwest student organization to achieve a two year goal to establish an Indiana University Endowment Scholarship Fund.
