IU Northwest to celebrate Asia Day on Sept. 19

Community members are invited to join the students, staff and faculty of Indiana University Northwest as they celebrate Asian culture and heritage with an array of free festivities on Sept. 19.

Beginning at 12 p.m. at the Hawthorn Quadrangle, the event will include free cultural cuisine from a variety of countries, including Japan, China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Phillippines, and Thailand. There will be musical performances and a variety of cultural dances from the Phillippines, Thailand, Pakistan and India. Other highlights will include a fashion show and a henna tattoing demonstration. Students, faculty and staff representing a variety of Asian cultures are coming together to participate in this culturally dynamic event.

Sponsored by the IU Northwest Diversity Programming Group and supported by the School of Business and Economics, the Asian-American Student Organization of IU Northwest, and the Indio-American Cultural Center of Northwest Indiana, Asia Day is presented as part of the Chancellorís Diversity Programming Series.
