IU Northwest prof will teach interviewing, hiring skills to U.S. Steel managers on Aug. 16

On Aug. 16, IU Northwest Prof. Charles Hobson Ph.D. will present a workshop on interviewing and hiring practices to human-resource managers at U.S. Steel Gary Works. Although this session is restricted to U.S. Steel employees and is not open to the public, both IU Northwest and U.S. Steel have approved media coverage of this session, including photographs.

Highlighted topics of this seminar, which is sponsored through the IU Northwest Center for Management Development, will include the steps involved in effective interviewing, the legal issues of interviewing, and how to project the positives of U.S. Steel and Northwest Indiana in an interview. The session will also include mock interviews. We believe this program may be of interest to local media audiences, since it involves the steel industry and includes information that can be useful for a variety of professional people throughout the Region.

The session will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. It will be held in IU Northwest’s new Dunes Medical/Professional Building, in Management Room 1156. Media coverage is welcome at any time during the day. We do ask, however, that you notify us in advance of when your media representatives would like to attend so that we know when to expect them.

I hope you will be able to send someone to cover this informative business event at IU Northwest. If you need any additional information, please contact me in the Office of Marketing and Communications, or call Peg Fiala at the Center for Management Development at (219) 980-6862. Thank you.
