The 50th Annual Calumet Regional Science Fair and Associated Art Exhibit was held March 11-12, 2006, at IU Northwest. Nearly 140 students in grades 5-12 from the Lake County area participated in the two day event. For many students involved, their experiments were a culmination of more than a years worth of work. More than 60 judges sat and listened while the students explained their experiments several times over. The judges were professors from IU Northwest and Purdue University Calumet, local industry professionals, and science students from the two universities. 225 prizes in more than 20 categories were awarded at the ceremony which was held at the end of the second day of the fair in the Theater Northwest on campus.
