Do you like the contagious rhythms of tap dancing, or the funky beats of lyrical dance? Or do you enjoy the graceful pliea of ballet dancers as they glide across the floor on the tips of their toes? Whatever genre of dance you prefer, the IU Northwest Dance Company’s “Festival of Dance” performance will have something for all music and dance lovers to enjoy.
The IU Northwest Dance Company and special guest performers from Chicago-based Rebound Dance will perform Feb. 25 at 7:30pm and Feb. 26 at 2:30pm in the Tamarack Theatre at IU Northwest, Gary, Ind. The company consists of nine IU Northwest students who will be performing choreography directed by faculty members Megan Lindsay and Gretchen Pierce, as well as student choreography by Deanna Greenwood and Christina Davis.
This year's performance will feature dance works in afro-modern, post-modern, classic modern, ballet, jazz and lyrical dance. Music will accompany each dance and range in style from artists such as Nine Inch Nails, Loreena McKennit, Phish, Austin Power's soundtrack to Fat Boy Slim and Eric Benet & Tamia.
Tickets are $4.00 for students and $7.00 for the public. For ticket reservations please call Pat Ogrinc at 980-6810.
