IU Northwest student groups raise over $1,000 for Katrina survivors

Students eager to help survivors of Hurricane Katrina quickly organized several campus fundraisers that collectively netted more than $1,000 in just a few short weeks.

Student organization such as the Student Alumni Association, Pre-Professional Studies Club and Student Government Association were among several groups who orchestrated the donation and collection of cash, food, clothing, baby items and personal necessities, which were sent to survivors desperately in need of help. Several student and campus representatives presented Jeff Fox from America’s Second Harvest with a check for $1,025 , which will go directly towards the relief effort.

IU Northwest, along with all seven other Indiana University campuses, held various fundraisers, set up donation collection sites and hosted displaced students, as their way to contribute to the recovery process for the victims who lost so much in the storm.
