ALMA hosts 3rd annual Endowment Scholarship dinner dance

The Latino student organization ALMA is excited to host its annual Endowment Scholarship Fundraiser Dinner Dance Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Hellenic Cultural Center, SS Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 800 Madison St., Merrillville. Cocktails will be at 6 p.m. and the family-style dinner at 7 p.m.. The program will begin at 8:15 p.m. and dancing will commence at 9 p.m.

This year's guest of honor is IU Northwest Chancellor Bruce Bergland and the guest speaker will be the Honorable Superior Court Judge Jesse Villalpando.

ALMA's mission is to enrich the lives of students and community members through education, fellowship and a commitment to promoting Latino heritage throughout the northwest Indiana region. The student group formed on the IU Northwest campus about 3 years ago and has quickly become a leader in sponsoring events that raise awareness for the Latino culture. They recieve strong support from campus constituencies, as well as the Latino community.
