IU vs. Purdue Blood Drive Challenge

The natural disasters that have recently occurred in the United States have led to a blood shortage crisis. To help replenish supplies in northwest Indiana, the IU Northwest Student Nurses Association and the IU Northwest Alumni Association are sponsoring an American Red Cross blood drive Tuesday, November 1, 2005 from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. in Moraine Student Center at Indiana University Northwest in Gary.

Each of the last eight years, the annual Indiana University vs. Purdue Blood Donor challenge has garnered much needed blood donations, not only for Indiana, but for places across the country where donors are in short supply. Blood donations are vital to saving lives in hospitals, clinics and emergency rooms.

In order to donate your blood, you must be at least 17 years-old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, have generally good health, and have not donated blood in the last 56 days.

The goal at IU Northwest this year is 125 units of blood. All presenting donors will receive a free challenge T-shirt. For more information, please contact Twana Bostick at 219-980-6549 or email tbostick @iun.edu.
