IU Northwest launches Fall 2005 Chancellorís Diversity Programming Series

GARY, Ind. - IU Northwest is pleased to announce its Fall 2005 Chancellorís Diversity Programming Series and related cultural events. The IU Northwest Diversity Programming Group is a collaboration of campus and community organizations that develop programs and activities designed to enrich the educational lives of the campus community and the residents of northwest Indiana.

These events are sponsored in part by the IU Northwest Center for Cultural Discovery & Learning, Student Activities Board, Student Activities Fund Trustees and other campus groups. All events are free and open to the public with the exception of Theatre Northwest performances. Below is a list of featured events for the month of September.

September 16, 2005 - Women's Studies Film Club, Savannah Center Auditorium, 5:00 p.m.

September 19, 2005 - Constitution Day

Library Conference Center Room 105 ABC

Marie Eisenstein, Assistant Professor of Political Science, will open her classes to the public in honor of Constitution Day:

1:00-2:15 p.m.: US Congress

2:30-3:45 p.m.: Religion and Politics

4:00-5:15 p.m.: Introduction to American Government

September 22, 2005 - Southeast Asia Day on Campus

Savannah Center Auditorium and Lobby

11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Activities celebrating the cultures of Southeast Asia and their contributions to life in northwest Indiana

September 23, 2005 - Puerto Rican Heritage Celebration

Savannah Center Auditorium

6:00 p.m. Reception

7:00 p.m. Academic overview of Puerto Rican community and culture of Northwest Indiana

7:30 p.m. Musical performance by AfriCaribe
