On Friday, September 9, at 9:30 a.m., Indiana University Northwest will pay
tribute to the victims and heroes of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United
States as well as the victims of our most recent national tragedy, Hurricane
Katrina. Organized by the Office of Academic Affairs for the past four years,
the ceremony is open to the public. Campus and community members are welcome
and encouraged to gather at the flagpole in front of Hawthorn Hall to remember
these victims and to honor those who worked and are currently working on the
subsequent relief efforts. The brief ceremony will include the playing of “Taps;” a “Moment of Silence”; and remarks by IU Northwest Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Anna Rominger.
As a mark of respect for the victims of Hurricane Katrina the flags of the United States on campus have been lowered to half-staff and will remain in that position until sunset, Tuesday, September 20.
