Indiana University Northwest will honor 856 graduating students during its Commencement exercises at the Genesis Convention Center in Gary on Thursday, May 12 at 6 p.m. (Doors open at 4:30 p.m.)

IU Northwest Chancellor Bruce W. Bergland, Ph.D., will preside over the ceremony along with IU President Adam W. Herbert, Ph.D., to confer degrees.

Degree recipients include December 2004 graduates and candidates for May and August 2005. This number also includes graduate students whose degrees have been or will be awarded during the 2004-05 academic year.

Of the 856 graduates 13% have earned master’s degrees, 60% have earned bachelor’s degrees, and 27% have earned associate’s degrees. Approximately 68% of the 2005 graduating class are women and roughly 10% of all graduates have earned a grade point average of 3.6 and above.

A total of 15,887 graduates will be eligible for degrees from IU during May commencement ceremonies on all eight campuses. The IU commencement week will begin in Bloomington on May 7 and conclude in Richmond at IU East on May 13.
