IU Northwest Spirits Arts and Literary Magazine will host two nights of poetry readings at local coffeehouses. The first reading will take place Thursday, Feb. 10 beginning at 8 p.m. at A Latte' Books and Music, 206 Main Street in Hobart. The next will be held on Thursday, Feb. 17 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Pop Culture, 107 N. Main, Suite C, in Crown Point.
Published twice a year, Spirits features prose, poetry, art and photography by Indiana University Northwest students, faculty members and alumni. Submissions are also open to residents of Lake, LaPorte and Porter Counties.
Since its establishment in the fall of 1990, Spirits has earned nearly 100 awards from the Indiana Collegiate Press Association, winning the "Literary Magazine of the Year" category six times.
