One Dollar Used Book Sale nets thousands for scholarships

Bringing in more than $6,000 last year, the One Dollar Used Book Sale is opening its doors again beginning Monday, March 29 and running through Friday, April 2.

Sponsored by the IU Northwest student Anthropology Club, the sale is held in the Moraine Hall lobby daily from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (Friday hours are 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.).

Thousands of books are available covering a wide assortment of topics, everything from fiction to education. All books are just one dollar and quantity discounts will be available. Books will be continuously added throughout the week. Purchasers are encouraged to come early and frequently.

Having started as a small fundraising activity for the club, the book sale has evolved into a major annual event drawing hundreds of people to the university, many making the drive down from Chicago. The proceeds raised go directly into scholarships, field-school digging experiences for students, maps and archeological artifacts for classrooms, and toward funding to bring guest lecturers to the campus.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information on the sale, or to donate books please call Bob Mucci at (219) 980-6607.
