Thereís still time for 2004 high school seniors graduating from a state accredited high school to take advantage of numerous scholarship opportunities available at Indiana University Northwest.
Valedictorian, Salutatorian and special academic scholarships are awarded on a rolling deadline basis. The Valedictorian is for a number one ranked student and the Salutatorian is for the number two ranked student in a class. Both cover tuition and fees, while the Valedictorian also covers a studentís books. To qualify for a special academic scholarship, a student must be in the top 10 percent of their class or have a 3.5 GPA based on a 4.0 scale and a minimum SAT score of 1100.
A Bank One Scholarship and Baccalaureate/Medical School (BMD) Scholarship are also available, but requires an additional application to be submitted before Feb. 1. The Bank One Scholarship is available to students who rank in the top 15 percent or one-third of their class with SAT scores above the national average. This covers tuition, fees and books for the student. The BMD Scholarship is unique and quite coveted. A qualifying student must at least have a 3.5 GPA based on a 4.0 scale, score a minimum of 1200 on the SAT and must be willing to practice for four years in a medically underserved urban area.
All scholarship applications should be available in area high school guidance counselorsí offices or call or stop by the IU Northwest Office of Admissions at (219) 980-6991, located in Hawthorn Hall, room 100.
