Campus community contributes to hunger campaign

The IU Northwest campus community will honor National Hunger Awareness Day by collecting food items for the people of Lake and Porter counties who depend on contributions from Second Harvest of Northwest Indiana.

Collection containers for non-perishable food items will be located in the Savannah Center Security Booth on Thursday, June 5. All monetary donations can be made at the IU Northwest Bookstore.

Nine million children live with hunger each day. To address this growing problem more than more than 2,000 hunger-relief charities and millions of volunteers, donors, and supporters will recognize National Hunger Awareness Day in their communities. Statewide statistics indicate that there are more than 10,000 people living below poverty level in Lake and Porter counties.
