Chicago Bears on court at IU Northwest

Watch current Chicago Bears players compete off the field and on the basketball court for a charity tournament at Indiana University Northwest April 26.

Starting at 7 p.m. in the Savannah Center Gymnasium, playing a sort of “Globtrotter” style basketball, the Bears will take on the winners of a tournament between intramural champions, the IU Northwest Redhawks basketball team and an IU Northwest faculty team. Bears players confirmed to participate are Otis Wilson, Marty Booker, Ahmad Merritt, Dez White and Bobbie Howard.

A free autograph session will follow the game. The evening will also include entertainment provided by local area high school students. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the Savannah Center ticket booth. All proceeds will be donated the IU Northwest Children’s Literacy Campaign.

The event is sponsored by the IU Northwest Student Activities Board and UPS. For more information call (219) 980-6792.

The IU Northwest Children's Literacy Initiative is designed to raise awareness of the value of early intervention and provide programs and resources to parents and children from birth to 6 years of age. The Literacy Initiative is the reasearch and service project of the IU Northwest's Shared Vision and will offer literacy education, materials and workshops to local parents and caregivers to enrich family efforts and prepare their children for the opportunities that reading will bring.
