Children's theatre tradition continues with Sleeping Beauty

A madcap chef, pirates and dancing birthday cakes inhabit the kingdom of "The Sleeping Beauty" in the IU Northwest Theatre Northwest production of this classic fairy tale to be performed Saturday, April 12 and Sunday, April 13.

The April 12 and April 13 performances are matinees beginning at 2:30 p.m. All tickets are $7 with group rates available for groups of 10 or more.

British playwright Brian Way adapted this fantastical version of the story, which includes audience interaction and special effects. The Performing Arts Department at IU Northwest has performed children's theatre production for more than 30 years.

“These events have become a northwest Indiana tradition seen by hundreds of thousands throughout the years,” said Pat Ogrinc from Theatre Northwest.

Group rates require advanced registration. To register, please call (219) 980-6810. The theatre is located on the IU Northwest campus, 3400 Broadway, Gary, Ind., one block south of the Broadway Exit of I 80-94. Ample free parking is available.
