The Cat in the Hat and other Dr. Seuss classics will take over Miller Elementary School on Monday, March 3 as part of the Read Across America Day.
IU Northwest students, which are members of the Indiana Student Education Association local chapter, Merrillville School Corporation Superintendent Dr. Tony Lux and Miller Elementary School Principal Kathie Martin will be participating in full day of reading and activities in conjunction with Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Lux and Martin will kick off the festivities by reading to the entire school at 9 a.m.
The National Education Association’s Read Across America Day is the biggest one-day literacy celebration in the United States. ISEA is the student version of the Indiana State Teachers Association, which belongs to the NEA. The IU Northwest chapter is comprised of 175 education majors in various disciplines.
