Theatre Northwest at Indiana University Northwest is proud to have presented the much-anticipated musical that shattered attendance records during its extended 1993-94 run. The production of PHANTOM returned once again to thrill Northeast Indiana theater-goers from June 20 through June 23.
Highly acclaimed and remarkable, attendees watched as the masked musical genius lurked beneath the gothic 1860's Paris Opera House searching for a beautiful woman. Passion gave way to possession in this brilliant production.
Tony Award-winners Arthur Kopit (book) and Maury Yeston (music and lyrics) developed the musical in 1983. Based on the novel by Gaston LeRoux, the Kopit and Yeston version has a richer, more engaging plot and a Phantom who is easier to sympathize with and understand.
With a talented, professional Indiana University Northwest cast assembled by returning Jerry Taylor, Director of Theatre Northwest, beautifully stylish 19th Century European period costumes and amazing scenery, PHANTOM was a success.
