IU Northwest builds communities through communication

Recently reorganized and ready to meet the objectives of the organization, Indiana University Northwest's Communication Association (IUNCA) announces itís first event of the semester, Communication Week 2002, "Building Communities Through Communication".

Sponsored by the IU Northwest Department of Communication and IUNCA, this dynamic, informative event is a collaborate effort to bring the community and NW Indiana business professionals together.

Communication Week will feature two keynote speakers this year. Dr. Robert Ivie, professor of Communications and Culture at Indiana University ­ Bloomington, will speak on "Destructing Terrorism, Obstructing Democracy", and Dr. Christine Broda-Bahm, Public Affairs Specialist of the Smithsonian Institute, National Museum of American History, will be speaking on "Community Relations on the Cultural Stage". Students from Rhetoric and Senior Seminar classes at IUN will also be present research papers during the week.

In addition to the speakers, IUNCA will host its first communication conference on Thursday, Mach 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Savannah center on campus. Communication workshops will be entertained by representativeís form IU Northwestís Departments of Communication and Career Services, along with various NW Indiana business professionals. Registration is required. Registration forms can be picked up in Tamarack Hall, room 72 on campus.
