IU Women's a cappella group comes to IU Northwest

The Indiana Women's Institute for Learning & Leadership (IWILL) at IU Northwest will host the IU women's a cappella group, Ladies First, in late March.

Since their opening night in 1999, Ladies First have advanced to the Midwest Semifinals of the National Championships of Collegiate A Cappella in February of 2000, and toured California with the Alumni Association in March of 2000. In the Spring of 2000, the group performed a lengthy spring concert in Bloomington and the debut of their self-titled album.

Sponsored by the IU Alumni Association, Ladies First travels and performs as Alumni representatives all over the state of Indiana. Ladies First student members include: Rhianon Bacon, music education; Nora Colwell, music education; Stephanie Geber, telecommunications; Kelli Grant, broadcast journalism; Ashley Griffin, accounting; Gina Guido, Spanish education; Jenny Horn, telecommunications; Alissa Koenig, studio arts; Annmarie LaRocca, telecommunications; Lauren Orenga, theater; Katie Stark, general studies; Hannah Willman, vocal performance/arts administration.

Ladies First, IU Bloomingtonís first womenís a cappella group, will perform on Wednesday, March 27 at 6:00 p.m. in the Savannah Center Auditorium on campus. A five-dollar donation will go to IWILL, a collaborative of women from the IU Northwest campus community and the greater Northwest Indiana community whose focus is to cooperatively create lifelong learning opportunities for all women in the community and nurture women in leadership roles.
