On Friday, October 26, the Indiana University Board of Trustees will be on campus for a dedication ceremony of our newest buildings, the Savannah Center and Child Care Center.
The ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the Savannah Center Auditorium on campus. A reception will immediately follow the event.
Following the Dedication Ceremony of the Savannah Center and the Child Care Center, a press conference regarding a major National Science Foundation (NSF) grant that has been awarded to Indiana University will be held at 11:30 a.m. in Savannah Center 203/204 on campus.
IU President Myles Brand, IU Northwest Chancellor Bruce Bergland and IU Vice President for Information Technology Michael McRobbie will present the details of this grant, from which funds will be used to bring some new and exciting research and teaching technology resources to our campus.
One aspect of the grant has to do with (3D) visualization of research data (i.e. molecules, galaxies, architectural renderings, medical scans) as well as the display of data streaming for videoconferencing, distance education and other collaborations. University Information Technology Services (UITS) staff are planning to demonstrate the capabilities of a visualization "box" that has similar capabilities to a much larger display that will be made available at IUN through the grant funding.
