Indiana University recently installed Sharon Stephens Brehm as IU Bloomington chancellor in a ceremony in the IU Bloomington Auditorium. Brehm, who served as provost at Ohio University from 1996 to 2001, was selected in March to succeed Kenneth Gros Louis, who retired from the position after 21 years. Brehm officially began her duties at IU on July 1. The hour-long installation ceremony included speeches by IU President Myles Brand and Bloomington Mayor John Fernandez, and welcomes from various university and community leaders. It also featured musical performances by the IU African-American Choral Ensemble and students from the IU School of Music under the direction of Dean Gwyn Richards. Brand performed the official installation of Brehm. "Chancellor Brehm follows in the footsteps of visionary leaders for our Bloomington campus. I am confident that she will add to that outstanding tradition of leadership," Brand said. |
