Indiana Business Research Center Comes to IU Northwest

The Indiana Business Research Center (IBRC) is opening an office at IU Northwest to serve the northwest Indiana region and metro Chicago.

IBRC@IUN will provide business, government, and not-for-profit agencies in Northwest Indiana with better access to data and more analysis of issues of particular concern to this region. IUNís focus in this area will not be a limiting factor.  Starting with this region, IUN will be studying forces at work worldwide.  By monitoring its regional performance, the university will set new standards and develop new techniques applicable across the state and nation.

This new program will enable IUNís faculty to broaden their out-reach to the community, enhance their research, and enliven their teaching. Morton Marcus, who has led the IBRC since 1985, will personally lead this initiative.  The IBRC @ IUN will be an integral part of our IUN Business School.  Plans are being developed for

  • a quarterly publication concerning the Northwest Indiana economy,
  • a monthly web-site update of that publication,
  • a Northwest Indiana data base, and
  • a weekly TV show featuring IUN faculty discussing issues of consequence to the region
A pioneer in business research and information systems, the IBRC began with an office in Bloomington.  Then, 25 years ago, the IBRC opened an Indianapolis office. Starting today, the IBRC will also be based at IU Northwest.
