Effective September 4, Joseph Pellicciotti, professor of the School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at Indiana University Northwest, will assist the Vice Chancellor, Virginia Helm, as an Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
Under Helmís leadership, Pellicciotti will work with other deans and faculty on campus initiatives, work with the faculty, directors and deans on the development of a campus teaching/learning center, supervise the incoming Director of Sponsored Programs, and perform other duties as assigned. In the spring, Pellicciotti will also assist Vice Chancellor Helm with some activities related to the oversight of Admissions and Financial Aid.
During his 19 years at Indiana University Northwest, Pellicciotti has held several administrative appointments. Some of these include interim chair of the SPEA School-wide Faculty of Criminal Justice, Law and Public Safety; acting director and director of the IUN Division of Public and Environmental Affairs and Political Science; and assistant dean of the School. He has been division director and SPEA assistant dean since 1990.
Pellicciotti has earned several licensure and certifications including admittance to the practice of law in the Supreme Court of the United States of America, and several honors and awards including the Indiana University Northwest Founders' Day Teaching Award. He is involved in a wide range of service activities, including the Lake County Community Corrections Advisory Board and the Military Service Academy Review Board for Indiana's First Congressional District, and he is the author of several books and monographs and numerous journal articles.
