Indiana University Northwest will hold the eighth annual traditional Martial Arts tournament on Saturday, August 4 at 9:30 a.m. in the Savannah Center gymnasium.
The individual tournament will include a mix of taekwondo and karate competitors. This will be the first tournament in Northwest Indiana featuring completely electronic scoring for sparring competitions. Divisions will be formed on the day of the event as equitable but all ages and ranks are welcome. White uniforms should be worn in traditional karate or taekwondo styles and all students must wear traditional safety gear. This is not a full contact tournament - excessive or unsportsman-like conduct will be immediately disqualified.
The tournament is hosted by Master Jerry P. Galloway, associate professor of Instructional Technology at IU Northwest, and the Traditional Martial Arts of Merrillville (TMA).
