IU Northwest's Kids College 2001 
Promises to Peak Curiosity, Build Confidence and Character

Indiana University Northwest will kick-off two summer sessions of Kids College beginning June 18. The sessions are open to children 7-years-old to 16-years-old, and will be from June 18 to July 5, and July 9 to July 26.

 "This is our 18th summer of Kids College and literally thousands of students have participated in this fun, relaxed approach to learning," says Joan Wolter, Kids College Coordinator. "Our goal is simple. We want the children to enjoy learning in a safe, fun environment with outstanding educators that encourage creativity and intellectual curiosity." 

Session 1 of Kids College will begin June 18 and offers classes that include:

  • Ages 7-to-9-years - Arts of Kings and Queens, Explore Spanish, Travel in Your Own Backyard, Mummy Mysteries, Sew What?, ISTEP English Preparation, Reader's Theater, Them Bones-Them Bones, Crafts for Kids, Wacky World of Animals, Four Block, and Karate for New Kids
  • Ages 9-to-12-years - Basketball for Juniors (co-ed), MacMath, Anatomy and Physiology for Juniors, What's Your Story?, Karate- The Strength and Grace (co-ed, non-contact), MacPaint, Skull Secrets, Rapid Math, and Artists in the Landscape.
  • Ages 13-to16-years-old - The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Intro into the IBM Computer, Shorinyu Style Karate, Basketball for Collegians, Eye in the Sky, MacGraphics, Artists in the Landscape, Spanish for Colleggians, In the News, Spin Your Own Web Page
Kids College Session II will being July 9 and offers classes that include:
  • Ages 7-to-9-years - From Potter to Pokemon, Creative Dance, Explore the Rainforest, The World of Dinosaurs, Put on Your Thinking Cap, You Want Me to Test This?, Martial Arts for New Kids, Who Likes Penguins Anyway?, ISTEP Math Preparation, super Kids Club, Food for Thought, and Japanese.
  • Ages 9-to-12-years - Cartooning on the Mac, Martial Arts for Juniors (co-ed, non-contact), The Girl Team, Math Power on the IBM, Fun with Magic, MacGraphics, Whazzup?, Cheerleading, MacMath, Dance to the Beat, Diggin with Dr. Dirt, and Math Review on the IBM.
  • Ages 13-to16-years - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, So You Want to be a Lawyer?, Problem-Solving Math, Crime Busters, Spin Your Own Web Page, Cheerleading, Study Skills, Extreme Writing, Dance the Beat, and Martial Arts for Young Collegians.
Kids College is offered through the IU Northwest Division of Continuing Studies, and classes are filled on a first-come-first-serve basis. Registration hours are Monday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. An early-bird discount is available through May 31.
