Indiana University Northwest will confer 834 degrees at its 35th Annual Commencement on May 10 at 5 p.m. at the Radisson Star Plaza in Merrillville. Along with the degree recipients, Patricia Ireland, president of the National Organization for Women (NOW) will receive an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Indiana University President Myles Brand.
IU Northwest Chancellor Bruce W. Bergland will deliver the presentation to the class that includes graduates from semesters ending in December 2000, May 2001 and degree candidates from August 2001. Also included are graduate students whose degrees were awarded on a monthly basis during the 2000-2001 academic year. President Brand will preside over the ceremony and the Indiana University Brass Quintet will lead the processional and recessional.
At commencement, students will be awarded degrees in Allied Health Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Business and Economics, Continuing Studies, Dental Education, Education, Labor Studies, Nursing, Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) and Political Science and Social Work. Indiana University Northwest is one of eight Indiana University campuses through out the state, and serves Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Newton, Jasper, Pulaski, and Starke Counties.
