Faculty Colloquium on Excellence in Teaching Indiana University Northwest’s Dr. Linda Delunas of Schererville,
and Dr. Mark Hoyert of Valparaiso, were among 23 Indiana University faculty
members recently named to the Faculty Colloquium on Excellence in Teaching
(FACET).
Delunas is an assistant professor in the IU School of Nursing, Northwest Campus and also coordinator of clinical and community affiliations. She has a Ph.D. in nursing sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and an MS and BSN from Purdue University Calumet. Delunas strongly believes in professional role modeling and student mentoring. “The thing I like most about teaching is the opportunity to mentor students
into the professional role,” says Delunas. “I really love the profession
of nursing, and feel that teaching and mentoring students gives me the
opportunity to ensure perpetuation of the nursing profession. I also
believe that every student wants to succeed but many aren’t sure how to
do so. Mentoring helps provide students with the tools needed for success.”
“My students bring an enormous wealth of information and experiences with them to class,” says Hoyert. “I enjoy interacting with them, sharing their experiences, and helping them to organize and analyze those experiences in new ways. In this way, we all grow.” Both Delunas and Hoyert will be honored along with 21 other Indiana University FACET recipients at the Annual FACET Retreat near Bloomington next month. |
