Learn Computer Skills Through 
IU Northwest Adult Education Classes

 Throughout the month of April, Indiana University Northwest is offering a variety of ways to learn and enhance computer skills through its Adult Education Program.

A Power Point workshop will be offered on Saturday, April 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Individuals will learn to create presentations to be used electronically as overhead transparencies. Topics covered include creating text, graphics and organizational charts. Basic computer skills are needed.

Computer Concepts will be taught on Fridays, April 20 to May 25, from 1 to 4 p.m. This class will introduce students how to purchase a computer; install and uninstall software; troubleshoot and fix minor computer problems; protect computers from viruses; connect to, surf and search the Internet; get free web-based email; and optimize and maintain Windows 98.

A special class for senior citizens, Intro to Windows 98, will be on Fridays, April 20 and April 27 from 9 a.m. to noon. The course will cover many aspects of using Windows 98 including editing, copying, and moving, managing files, folders and floppy disks. Students will also learn how to use Windows Explorer, customize work environments and desktops, and print documents.

On Saturdays, April 21 and 28 from 9 to 4 p.m., students will learn the Access program, with course topics including database design, creation, editing and viewing data, and setting up basic forms and reports. Basic computer skills are needed.

Individuals familiar with Macintosh computers can learn the desktop publishing program, Pagemaker, on Saturdays, April 21 and 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. During the class, students will learn through demonstrations and hands-on experience, how to produce and edit typeset quality camera-ready layouts
