Topics concerning the State of Indiana's property tax structure and
how to understand it, as well as discussion on how tax dollars are spent,
building economic growth, government efficiency, and tax education for
children and young adults will be part of two property tax seminars being
offered by Operation TEN (Tax Education Now) on April 5.
Operation TEN is the result of Gomeztagle's long, but successful fight to prove that Indiana's property tax system is unconstitutional. After winning a lawsuit with the Indiana Supreme Court challenging the constitutionality of the assessment system, Gomeztagle gained support of Marcus, director of the Indiana Business and Research Center at IU's School of Business, and Operation TEN was formed. Sponsored by The Times newspapers, and co-sponsored by IU Northwest, Ivy Tech, and the Gary Chamber of Commerce, the property tax seminars are open to the community free of charge. For more information contact Gomeztagle at the IU Northwest School of Business and Economics at 219-980-6910. |
