Preparation to enter the pharmacy technician field in hospitals, home
infusion pharmacies and retail pharmacies is being offered at Indiana University
Northwest on Mondays and Wednesdays from March 19 through May 30 from 7
In cooperation with Condensed Curriculum, Inc. the Division of Continuing Studies at the university will prepare students to work under the supervision of a pharmacist through the study of medical terminology, reading and interpreting prescriptions, and identifying drugs by generic and brand names. Students will also learn to prepare intravenous mixtures, flow rates and delivery systems, along with dosage calculations, drug compounding and dose conversions. Dispensing of prescriptions, unit dose, inventory control, billing and reimbursement will also be discussed.
A GED or high school diploma is required for enrollment. Basic computer and average math skills are also recommended. Placement assistance will be offered by Condensed Curriculum to students successfully completing the course.
