IU Northwest Professor To Receive
Prestigious President's Award

Indiana University Northwest sociology professor Dr. Charles Gallmeier has been selected to receive the prestigious President's Award for teaching excellence from Indiana University President Myles Brand. The award was established to recognize outstanding teaching, research or service throughout the Indiana University school system.

It is faculty members like Gallmeier, says President Brand, "who have a clear vision of what education can and should be, who have raised Indiana University to its current prominence as a great teaching and great research institution."

A resident of Miller in Gary, Gallmeier received a BA in sociology (Magna Cum Laude) from Indiana University-Fort Wayne, an MA and Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California-San Diego. He also completed a master's program at Indiana University in Bloomington.

Gallmeier will receive the President's Award at Indiana University's Founders Day Ceremony in Bloomington on
March 4.
