The newly built Indiana University Northwest Child Care Center for the campus and community will hold a Grand Opening Celebration on Thursday, February 1 from 3 to 5 p.m., and on Sunday, February 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. IU Northwest Chancellor Bruce Bergland, Vice Chancellor Ernest Smith, and Child Care Center director Karen Grabske will kick off the event on Thursday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a short presentation. Tours, children's activities, and refreshments are also on the agenda.
"We are extremely excited about the opening of our new Child Care Center. One of the great things about it is that it's much larger than our former facility so we can offer more services not only to campus children, but to community children as well," says Grabske, adding that the center can accommodate up to 60 children.
The new center offers three state-of-the-art multi-purpose classrooms that are specifically designed for children 3 to 12-years-old. With a staff trained and experienced in childcare, the center offers developmentally appropriate educational activities and games. As director, Grabske holds a BA in lower Elementary Education, and an MS in Child Care Administration.
The IU Northwest Child Care Center Grand Opening Celebration is open to the community. For more information on the grand opening or the child care center's services, contact Grabske at 219-980-6675.
