Six Indiana University Northwest facultymembers were recently announced as recipients of the prestigious IndianaUniversity Faculty Colloquium on Excellence in Teaching (FACET)awards. The awards are presented to IU faculty statewide who have demonstratedexceptional commitment to teaching by serving as catalysts to studentsand colleagues, having the capacity for self-evaluation, preparing andpresenting creative coursework, skillfully integrating instruction, researchand scholarship, and by their influence and impact on student learning.
Indiana University Northwest’s Dr Tanice Foltz of Merrillville, Dr.Eva Mendieta-Lombardo of Ogden Dunes, and Dr. Robin Hass, Dr. Iztok Hozo,Dr. Cynthia O’Dell, and Dr. Pam Sandoval, all of Valparaiso, were amongthe 23 faculty members in the IU system that received the excellence inteaching distinction for the year 2000. The IU Northwest campus also hadthe largest number of FACET recipients this year.
Foltz is associate professor of sociology,Mendieta-Lombardo is associate professor of Spanish,Hass is assistant professor of English, Hozo is associate professor ofmathematics, O’Dell is assistant professor psychology,and Sandoval is associate professor of education.They will attend the 12th Annual FACET retreat later this month in Bloomingtonand will be honored before a group of university administrators, trustees,FACET alumni and special guests.
