Indiana University Northwest willhost a forum and video presentation on the rally and mass protests by unions,environmentalists, community organizations, faith groups, and individualactivists against the World Trade Organization (WTO)conference in Seattle last year.
Showdown in Seattle, an award-winning documentary video, chroniclingthe energy and emotion of thousands of peaceful demonstrators, and theviolent attacks against them, will be shown on March 30 at 7 p.m. in RaintreeHall 102 on campus.
Following the video, RaoulContreras, Latino Studies professor will lead a discussion with a forumof activists, workers and environmentalists from the region, some of whomparticipated in the mass demonstration in Seattle. The discussion willalso look at what the WTO means for Northwest Indiana workers, as wellas the minority population.
