Nineteen students from the Indiana UniversityNorthwest Institute for InnovativeLeadership Development Program were recently honored at a graduationand reception at Innsbrook Country Club in Merrillville.
After two consecutive semesters of leadership training that includedworkshops, weekly small group discussions, working with mentors and individualcounseling, the students were recognized for their growth and leadershipabilities as business professionals and community leaders.
Individuals completing the program included: Joe Alessi and BethanyHarrison of Valparaiso; Dan Botich of Whiting; Shari Coulis, Mary Ann Shacklettand Dave Shafer of Munster; Derrick Crocker, Darlene Goss, Shawn Lamberson,Diane Vanderwerf, Marcus Williams and Samellia Williams of Gary; SheilaHurtado and Amy Paterson Sandie of Portage; Christina Jimenez and EricMcGinty of Hobart; Peggy Payonk of Hammond; Phyllis Zarazee of MichiganCity; and Judy Zeilenga of Highland.
The Institute for Innovative Leadership is a partnership between IUNorthwest and Northwest Indiana’s business and community leadership. Itis designed to create a binding link between educational experience andleadership practice. The students will continue to be involved in the servicesand activities of the Institute.
