Seven local Indiana University Northweststudents presented scientific research at an Undergraduate Research Conferenceat Indiana University Kokomo recently.The research comes after the students received funding for research orcreative activities last summer. Students and their research include: Mary Jackson of LaPorte, ComparingBenefits of Nitrogen Fixing Bacteria; Michael Kracht of Crown Point,The Exploration of Movement in Wood Sculpture; Karen Kugler of Chesterton,Sonochemistry in Organic Synthesis: Substitution Reactions of AlkynylIodonium Salts; Dan Schmitt of Chesterton, Evidence for Lake AgassizShoreline Higher then the Herman Beach; Dawn Shively of Valparaisoand Melissa Trader of Hobart, Enhancing Plant Diversity in a PrivateRemnant; and Adam Vaughan of Valparaiso, An Evaluation of MovingRegimes on the Establishment of Prairie Habitat.
