Indiana University Northwest will host a community celebration in honor of National French Week on November 8. Modernite’, Diversite’, Solidarite’: French in Northwest Indianawill offer activities and presentations from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Savannah Centeron campus.
The French celebration includes guest speaker Dr. LarbiOukada, president of the Indiana Association of Teachers of Foreign Languages and associate professor of Frenchat IUPUI. He will speak on La Francophonie,from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Other activities through the day include Guadeloupean dancers, French songs, and speakers Chancellor BruceBergland; Dr. Patricia Lorimer-Lundberg,dean of Arts and Sciences; Dr.Ada Azodo, French professor;and Dr. Randa Duvick, AATF Northwest Indiana Chapter president. Lunch will be served and includes music,song and a cultural question and answer session. A month-long exhibitionwith a Francophone theme is open to the community in MoraineStudent Center through Nov. 24.
Sponsored the IU Northwest’s department of modern languages, the French celebration is also part of the campus Diversity Programming Series funded by the Office of the Chancellor.
