Four Indiana University Northwestbusiness students will receive recognition and monetary awards to helpstart their own businesses at an Entrepreneurial Luncheon hosted on campuson Nov. 2. Ryan Crenshaw of Lowell, Monique Gatlin of Gary, Brad Herbstof Demotte, and Serita Thompson of Merrillville will be honored for businessplans they wrote as a result of IU Northwest’s BusinessSchool Entrepreneurial Expo held earlier this year. The award winnerswere judged by the quality, the probability of success, and completenessof the plan. Held in April the First Annual Student Entrepreneurship Expoon campus was open to the community and brought in local financial advisors,bankers, accountants, lawyers, insurance agents, real estate agents, Internetproviders, web page designers, government representatives, business ownersand others who were available to answer one-on-one questions on the necessarytools needed in order to begin a successful business venture. A representativefrom Bank Calumet, American Business Dynamics, Hoeppner, Waagner &Evans, LLP, and the Fifth Third bank served as judges for the businessplan contest for students. |
