Indiana University Northwest’s new gymnasium in Savannah Center will be the site of a press conference with the athletic directors and coaches from Indiana University Northwest, Indiana University South Bend, Purdue University Calumet, Purdue University North Central, as well as officials from local Salvation Army offices. The gathering, designed for members of the media, will focus on the upcoming Kettle Classic benefit basketball event that serves as a kick-off to the traditional Kettle Campaign of the Salvation Army.
The press conference is scheduled for October 18 at noon in the IU Northwest Savannah Center gym. The Kettle Classic basketball event will be November 1, also in the Savannah Center gym with IU South Bend vs. Purdue North Central at 6 p.m. and IU Northwest vs. Purdue Calumet at 8 p.m. A donation of $5 for the Kettle Classic is requested, with proceeds benefiting the Salvation Army.
“We are extremely proud to host the event in our new facility, and this
will be our first full season playing in the new gymnasium,” says Linda
Anderson, IU Northwest director of student life. “This is also the
first competition for all the teams for the 2000-2001 season, making this
event a great opportunity for fans to see what the teams have in store.”
